Lead Awareness

Course Length: 8 Hours

The Lead Awareness manual covers the hazards and work activities of jobs involving lead exposure such as demolition or the cutting of steel covered with lead-based paint. This manual is intended as providing awareness to workers and does not comply with EPA or OSHA training for workers who may be potentially exposed to elevated levels of lead. (PLEASE SEE NOTE BELOW.)

PLEASE NOTE: If the course is presented solely as a lead awareness course, it does not comply with EPA’s training requirements for lead abatement training for target housing or child-occupied facilities. In order to work on residential lead abatement projects, trainees must undergo training by an approved lead abatement training provider certified by the EPA or proper state authority. Lead Abatement Worker (Steel Structures)

Course Length: 40 Hours

The Lead Abatement Worker manual covers abatement methods for safely removing lead from materials and safely handling lead-contaminated materials. Additionally, the OSHA standards that apply to lead abatement are included.

Lead Renovator

Course Length: 16 Hours

This training fulfills the EPA’s requirements to become a Certified Lead Renovator. Certification is required for Laborers who are engaging in renovation, repair and painting activities that disturb lead-based paint in pre-1978 houses and child-occupied facilities. Students participate in active learning through classroom exercises and hands-on training.  This certificate is valid for five years. Students must take their refresher training prior to the expiration of their current or refresher certificate.
